How do you try something out and run test after test before you decide to go for the real deal? This is the question that the CAS Solar Go-Kart Team had to ask themselves before building a new kart from scratch to redesign last year’s to make it more efficient and faster for competition. In order to make the kart the ideal craft, the team had to come up with a way to test the new design, never done before.
This is a first for the team, and with guidance from the Solar Go-Kart Club sponsor, Jeff Ofstedahl, the team came up with their design based on the old model, and then decided on materials to use that would not be too labor intensive as well as inexpensive. The result is a prototype built out of PBC piping, with a lot of measuring and cutting, the kart is coming together, and will soon be ready for it’s first test run as early as next week.
